Help reform today's outdated marijuana laws...
San Antonio NORML sits in the 2nd largest city in Texas and 7th largest city in the United States. We are one out of the hundreds of chapters around the world that make up the 40 year old non-profit organization known as the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. Our mission is to sufficiently move public opinion to achieve the repeal of marijuana prohibition so that the responsible use of cannabis by adults is no longer subject to penalty.
To make these changes we need citizens to join together, write to your elected officials, and most importantly register to VOTE!! (just click on VOTE - it takes 5 minutes)

Recreational Use of Marijuana: Approximately 97.5 million Americans have smoked marijuana (cannabis) sometime in their life. Most are good citizens who work hard, raise families, and contribute to their community. Millions of Americans choose marijuana over alcohol because it is a safe recreational choice. Responsible cannabis use causes no harm to society and should be of no interest to state and federal governments. Last year over 700,000 Americans were prosecuted for marijuana crimes in the United States, the vast majority for possession. For costs of marijuana prohibition click here.
Medical Marijuana: Marijuana prohibition applies to everyone, including the sick and the dying. Of all the negative consequences of prohibition, none is so tragic as the denial of medicinal marijuana to the tens of thousands of seriously ill patients who could benefit from its use. This includes cancer patients, AIDS patients, glaucoma patients, and those suffering from chronic pain, rheumatoid arthritis and a variety of spastic conditions such as multiple sclerosis, paraplegia, quadriplegia, and epilepsy.Check out Texans for Medical Marijuana.
Industrial Hemp: Hemp refers to the non-psychoactive strain of cannabis grown by farmers throughout the world for industrial purposes. Hemp is one of nature's strongest and most versatile agricultural crop and has many commercial uses. Various parts of the plant can be utilized for making paper, textiles, cosmetics, paints, clothing, food, insulation, animal feed, and as an alternative fuel source. It produces a much higher yield per acre than substitutes such as wood pulp and cotton and requires virtually no pesticides. Farmers in 30 countries - including Canada, France, England, Germany, Japan, and Australia - grow hemp for industrial purposes.
